ArmInfo. "It is wrong to say that the meetings between Aliyev and Sargsyan will play a crucial role in the negotiation process regarding the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," the head of the commission on European integration of the National Assembly of Armenia, member of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Naira Zohrabyan, commenting on the aggravation of the situation on the Artsakh border after the Geneva meeting between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to her, it is quite obvious that a breakthrough in the settlement can be achieved only through the resumption of the negotiation process. However, for Azerbaijan any agreement is an empty phrase, a meaningless piece of paper, and therefore there should not be any special hopes for these meetings.
At a minimum, Azerbaijan is obliged to fulfill those duties that it took in connection with the monitoring of the arrests at the border, the deputy noted. As long as Baku sees the solution of the problem on the military plane, as he has repeatedly stated, such meetings cannot become a turning point in the peaceful negotiation process.
