ArmInfo. Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Artsvik Minasyan met on October 19 with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia Petr Mikyska. The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection, during the meeting the interlocutors expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in the environmental sphere.
Artsvik Minasyan and Petr Mikyska underscored the importance of the Declaration on cooperation in the field of nature protection signed between the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. They also noted the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Czech Nature Protection Agency and the Agency for Biological Resources Management of the staff of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia for the exchange of experience and information from June 2017 and the program of activities for 2017-2018. The parties stated about the importance of bringing relations to a qualitatively new level.
First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Eric Grigoryan attached importance to the implementation of the technical assistance programs of the Czech side in the development and expansion of the sphere's capacities.
Ambassador Mikyska noted the program of activities proposed by the Czech Republic in the framework of the "Green Yerevan" project. An agreement was reached to study the proposal.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to expand cooperation.
Earlier, on October 9, Deputy Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Khachik Hakobyan received the delegation of the Czech Nature Protection Agency headed by Director Frantisek Pelc on October 9. Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia Petr Mikyska attended the meeting. The Deputy Minister noted the importance of the mission with which the group arrived in Armenia, which can greatly assist in the implementation of the provisions of the memorandum signed between Armenia and the Czech Republic. The Memorandum, as the Deputy Minister reminded, provides for the implementation of a number of actions for 2017-2018 aimed at protecting specially protected natural areas, preserving biodiversity and developing ecotourism.
In January 2014, within the framework of the state visit of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to the Czech Republic, agreements were signed on the development and deepening of bilateral cooperation in a number of spheres. Among many other documents, the parties signed a joint Declaration between the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic on cooperation in the field of nature conservation.
