ArmInfo. The victory at the World Cup in Chess improved the positions of the Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian to the second place in the rating of the International Chess Federation FIDE.
In the October FIDE rating, Aronian has a score of 2,801 points. In September, the chess player took the fourth position. First place in the ranking with 2826 points continues to occupy the world chess champion, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen. On the third line is the Frenchman Maxim Vachier-Lagrave (2794 points), on the fourth - the American Fabiano Caruana (2794 points). The five leaders are Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2794 points).
Aronian became the owner of the World Cup-2017, defeating the Chinese Dean Lizhen in the finals. Chess players could not identify the winner in four main games and went on a tie-break, where the Armenian grandmaster turned out to be stronger.
