ArmInfo. President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister for European and American Affairs of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom, Alan Duncan, in September.
Welcoming the guest, the President stressed that Armenia is interested in deepening interstate relations with the United Kingdom. Serzh Sargsyan noted that over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the potential of cooperation between the two countries is still being used inadequately. The President expressed his hope that this dynamic will continue, and the Armenian-British interstate relations will rise to a new qualitative level.
State Minister Alan Duncan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed to the President of the Republic the greetings and good wishes of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Theresa May. He assured that the United Kingdom also has a great desire to develop and strengthen relations with Armenia. Alan Duncan stressed that his country is ready to provide assistance to the Armenian government, based on their economic priorities of the country for its use. State Minister Duncan expressed hope that as a result of mutual efforts aimed at developing cooperation, the volume of trade turnover between Armenia and the United Kingdom will increase. Minister Duncan stressed that the United Kingdom highly appreciates the constitutional reforms implemented in Armenia, which he had occasion to speak also in the Armenian parliament.
President Serzh Sargsyan assured that Armenia is determined to continue reforms in various spheres for the sake of strengthening and developing the statehood of Armenia. At the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, exchanged views on regional problems and challenges.
