ArmInfo. Samvel Aleksanyan from Armenia became the bronze medalist of the First European Youth Olympiad in Informatics eJOI, taking place in the capital of Bulgaria Sofia from September 7-13.
According to the official website of the Olympiad www.ejoi.org, the members of the junior team were selected according to the rating at the final stage of the General Informatics in April 2017 among the 7-8th grades.
In total, 8 gold, 14 silver and 22 bronze medals were played at the Olympiad. The most talented young people from 22 countries of the Council of Europe took part in the Olympiad. In the medal standings, Russia was the leader in the number of medals, with three gold medals. Participants from Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Estonia have medalists' medal. Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, congratulated the organizers of the Olympiad on its successful implementation and stressed that the most successful investments are investments in human capital. According to him, a good programmer is able to create a new world. The next Olympiad will be held in Russia. The initiators of the First European Youth Informatics Olympiad eJOI are the president of the International Informatics Olympiad (IOI) Professor Krasimir Manev, the general director of the A & B School of Informatics Alexei Khristov, the chairman of the Council of the Association of Olympic Teams Elena Marinova, the Chairman of the Development Council of the Olympic Teams Association and the president of the software company Musala Soft.
