ArmInfo.The Special Investigation Service of Armenia instituted criminal proceedings against a number of policemen for exceeding their official powers and using violence against detainees.

According to the SIS, which reported to ArmInfo, citizens T.G. and  Z.N. appealed to the SIS, telling them that they voluntarily came to  the Spitak Police Department on July 11, 2017, where they were  forcibly detained for a long time and were periodically beaten with  the aim of obtaining a confession of stealing from the house of one  of the inhabitants of the village of Shirakamut in the Lori region.  T. G. and Z. N.  under pressure and violence gave confessions.

The second case was initiated according to the application of T. K.  that he was beaten by members of the Kanaker-Zeytun Police  Department. According to the statement of T. K. on suspicion of  illegal acquisition and use of narcotic drugs, he was subjected to a  drive to the police department of Kanaker-Zeitun, where he was beaten  by law enforcers. After he was released, the victim turned to the  medical center "Grigor Lusavorich", where he was diagnosed with  numerous abrasions and bruises, which, according to the victim, he  received as a result of beatings by law enforcement.
