Russian Foreign Ministry does not have information on the possible  convocation of the Nalbandyan- Mammadyarov meeting in connection with  the shelling of the OSCE monitoring group on the Armenian-  Azerbaijani state border

ArmInfo.The Russian Foreign Ministry has no information on the possible convening of a meeting at the level of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in  connection with the firing on August 31 of the OSCE monitoring group  on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.

On August 31, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova,  during a weekly briefing, answering the question whether the Russian  side intends to initiate a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of  Armenia and Azerbaijan in connection with the firing of the OSCE  monitoring group, in order to accelerate the summit at the level of  the presidents of the two countries, in particular , stated: "As for  the case mentioned by you, the experts should say their word after  studying the circumstances on the spot. As for the plans for  convening a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and  Azerbaijan, I have no such information. The dialogue is supported  with all sides at the expert level, certainly by the contact group  line. And when it will be necessary to convene such a meeting, I  think I'm surer that we will be informed about this. But at the  moment I do not have this information."

At the same time, she stressed that Russia has always, traditionally  in the period of conflicts, exacerbations or any complications in  resolving this issue, called on the parties to take a weighted  approach, whose purpose would not be to incite and aggravate the  situation, but to move towards a political settlement.

To note, today the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire during the  monitoring of the OSCE on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in  the direction of the village of Chinari of the Tavush region of  Armenia. Tigran Balayan, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign  Affairs of Armenia, wrote about this on his page on twitter, then the  press secretary of the Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan also  confirmed the information. Meanwhile, Azerbaijani media reports that  the next OSCE monitoring on the Armenian- Azerbaijani border passed  without incident.
