Office of Ombudsman of Armenia regarding the search of lawyers: The  state is obliged to ensure the implementation of privileged and  protected lawyers` rights

ArmInfo. The state is obliged to ensure the implementation of privileged and protected lawyers' rights, regardless of technical problems. This is stated in the  conclusion of the office of the Ombudsman of Armenia regarding the  search of lawyers and their mass protest regarding this phenomenon.

Any control actions should be carried out with proper justification.  A study of the situation showed that the arguments of lawyers,  refusing to search, were not taken into account by law enforcement.  Refusal to obey the demand of law enforcement agencies led to a  restriction of the powers of lawyers, up to their admission to court  sessions, "the Ombudsman's office said.

Further, the experts of the office emphasize the need to compile a  list of items that are forbidden to be with the lawyer during court  hearings and visits to defendants.

To note, after the start of a series of high-profile hearings on the  cases of two armed groups and the Sasna Tsrer group, which captured  the Regiment of  Police Patrol Service, the lawyers of the accused in  these cases were searched before entering the courtroom, which  provoked their protest and refused to further exercise their powers .
