ArmInfo. The Federation Council is satisfied with the dynamics of the development of Russian-Armenian relations. According to the press service of the Federation Council, this was stated during the meeting with Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ara Babloyan, Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko.
In her opinion, close cooperation between the two countries allows developing new approaches to interparliamentary cooperation.
During the conversation, the plans of work of parliamentarians in the sphere of harmonization of the legislation of the two countries, development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Chairman of the Council of Federation invited the legislators of the two countries to audit the inter- parliamentary agreements, as well as to analyze the existing interstate and intergovernmental agreements for their relevance. "It is necessary to ensure that each agreement concluded was not declarative, but filled with concrete content, had in its basis clear plans," emphasized Matvienko.
She expressed the desire not to reduce the level of interaction between the parliamentarians of Russia and Armenia in the process of work at international inter-parliamentary platforms. In turn, Babloyan supported Matvienko's proposals and also noted the traditionally warm and friendly ties between Russia and Armenia, interaction in the Eurasian integration process, economic and humanitarian spheres. "I want to note our participation in Eurasian integration. Cooperation is expanding in the trade and economic sphere, energy, transport, innovation, that is, in all areas. We can be proud that Russia ranks first in investments and issues of economic cooperation, we have many joint ventures, "Babloyan said.
He also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement and stressed that there is no alternative to a peaceful solution to the conflict. At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the Russian side as co- chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group, in search of ways to resolve the conflict. Babloyan drew attention to the fact that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is deteriorating from time to time.
