ArmInfo.Yuri Khachaturov, CSTO Secretary General, during his speech at the meeting of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with  Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian  Federation, presented the priorities of the Collective Security  Treaty Organization activity at the present stage and the preparation  of the 

Parliamentary Assembly Assembly,the press service of the CSTO  reports.  The Secretary General said that effective mechanisms for  ensuring the security, independence, sovereignty and territorial  integrity of the member states have been created in the CSTO for 15  years of its existence and 25 years of operation of the Collective  Security Treaty.

Khachaturov noted that it is necessary to raise a number of issues,  the solution of which with the help of parliamentarians would help  increase the effectiveness of collective efforts to ensure  international peace and security. "In particular, without the active  participation of national parliaments, it is difficult to resolve  issues in harmonizing the legislations of the member states that  provide the legal framework for their operation in the CSTO format,"  said the CSTO Secretary General

In his opinion, one of the important tasks is the formation of a  positive international image of the CSTO in the international arena.  "The active work of parliamentarians with their foreign counterparts  from international organizations and third countries, their active  work in domestic and foreign media, aimed at popularization of the  CSTO policy in the whole range of tasks to be solved," Khachaturov  emphasized.

The Secretary General of the CSTO has examined the current military  and political situation in the CSTO's area of responsibility and the  current problems of international and regional security. He noted  that, unfortunately, the "right of the strong" is persistently  planted in international politics. "In the policies of the individual  Western countries, today the desire to maintain its dominant position  in the world at any price prevails." All the power of their  propaganda is at the same time, the perpetrators of political  cataclysms are presented as Victims; Regimes professing militant  nationalism, religious extremism and other values incompatible with  human morality, are heroized and comprehensively supported by the  principle: "He is a scoundrel, he is our scoundrel", he stressed the  Khachaturov problem.

In conclusion, he said that the meetings of the Secretary General of  the CSTO and other officials of the Organization with representatives  of national parliaments have become a good tradition, during which  topical problems of international security are discussed and ways of  their possible solution are outlined.  "For me it was the first  working contact with you.
