Lawyer Martiros Hakobyan and Araik Hakobyan Lusine Sahakyan On July 6, at the beginning of the hearing in the court of general jurisdiction of the Yerevan districts of Avan and Nor Nork, in the case of 18 members of the Sasna Tsrer group, Artus Gabrielyan submitted a petition for self-withdrawal, stating that the judge committed a gross violation of rights of the defendants.

Sahakyan expressed perplexity that the defendant's letter was taken  to the lawyer, moreover, he was read and published. According to her,  such behavior is difficult to imagine even in the most backward  countries of the world. "You do not have the right to hold a court  hearing because you admitted such a violation, you do not have the  right to be a judge at all. You are the judge who allows using  violence against our clients," underlined Sahakyan.

Sahakyan's petition was joined by other attorneys present at the  hearing, in particular, Yervand Varosyan, Grisha Balasanyan.

At today's meeting there are only 3 defendants. At the last meeting,  Judge Artush Gabrielyan for 15 hours removed 15 members of the group  "Sasna Tsrer" from 18, for disrespect to the court. The sanction was  not applied only to Hovhannes Harutyunyan, Tatul Tamrazyan and Aram  Manukyan, it was noted that the latter have health problems and can  not stand.

Lawyers demanded explanations about why their clients are not in the  hall. At the same time, they stressed that holding a meeting in the  absence of the defendants and some lawyers is a gross violation of  the rights of those who are in the dock.

In turn, the accuser Petros Petrosyan objected to the petition,  noting that it is unreasonable, and should be rejected. The judge  went to the advisory room to decide on the submitted petition.

To note, in early June, a court session began in the case of 18  members of the Sasna Tsrer group, which is considering the court of  the administrative districts of Erebuni and Nubarashen, but it is  held in the building of the Avan and Nor Nork courts, as it is larger  in size. The court session is held with many violations.

To recall, on July 17, 2016 the group "Sasna Tsrer" seized the  building of the Regiment of the PPS of the Armenian Police in the  capital district of Erebuni. The group demanded the resignation of  Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and the participant of the Karabakh  war Zhirayr Sefelyan, who was arrested in the spring of the same year  for illegal possession of weapons. The group surrendered and was  arrested on July 31.
