ArmInfo.The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Huseyin Muftuoglu, came out with a statement in response to a question regarding the resolution passed in the US House of Representatives
"The US House of Representatives last night (June 6) put on its agenda and passed an undue resolution that was previously voted by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. A similar resolution was introduced in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week.
The steps taken by the US legislative branches to distort and politicize the matter are not constructive. This is also against the spirit of alliance and partnership between Turkey and the US.," the statement reads To mention, with a vote of 397 to 0, the U.S. House of Representatives today unanimously condemned Turkey, sharply criticizing the brutal May 16th Erdogan- ordered attack against peaceful protesters in Washington DC, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). H.Res.354 represents a powerful stand against Ankara's attempts to export its violence and intolerance to America's shores.
"With today's vote, Congress started rolling back Ankara's occupation of Washington, DC," said ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian. "After far too many years of appeasing Ankara - turning a blind eye to its genocidal horrors, abuses at home, and aggression abroad - the United States, starting with the House of Representatives - today turned an important corner, challenging Turkey's violence and confronting its increasingly anti-American conduct."
Whereas on the evening of May 16, 2017, over two dozen protesters gathered outside of the Turkish Ambassador's residence in Washington, D.C., to demonstrate opposition to Turkish Government policies; The incident caused a negative response in the social and political circles of the United States. In fact, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that he called the actions of Turkish law enforcers unacceptable and promised to bring to justice all those responsible. Ankara, in response to the actions and statements of Washington, summoned Serdar Kilik, his ambassador to the US, for a consultation.
