ArmInfo. The Armenian citizens may unhindered drive vehicles in Russia both by national and international licenses. The Traffic Police of Armenia told ArmInfo.
"Armenian driving licenses both national and international are valid in the territories of all the states signed Vienna Convention of 1968 "On traffic", including EEU member-states. So, Armenian citizens may use driving licenses in Russia. With regard to the direct driving of a vehicle on the territory of any state in business and (or) work (for example, to work as a taxi driver, or as a carrier or a bus driver), in such cases, the application of a driver's license governs the legislation of that state", The Traffic Police of Armenia told.
To note, on June 1st 2017, the amendment to the Federal Law of the Russian Federation "On road safety", forbidding foreigners to work without Russian driving licenses entered into force. According to the amendment to the law, from now on, the foreigner caught with national driving license driving bus, truck, taxi will pay a penalty from 5000 to 15000 RUR, and the employer- 100.000 RUR. The enter of the law into force was being delayed by the request of "public and business", as there are a lot of drivers working in Russia now from former USSR with national driving licenses. And to continue the labor they should pass a basic number of exams in Road Patrol both practice at the site and in the city. It was supposed that in several years, while the law's come into force was delayed, all the drivers of the above mentioned category (60000-100000 persons), would slightly pass the reexamination and there will occur no problem. However it appeared to be more complicated. Citizens of Armenia who are engaged in labor activity on the territory of Russia have already faced serious difficulties in connection with the entry into force of this amendment and cannot continue their activities in Russia.
