ArmInfo.Status quo at Karabakh conflict zone is no longer acceptable. This was stated today by the head of European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, as a result of regional visit.
At the same time, he stressed that the conflict should be regulated as soon as possible exclusively in a peaceful way based on international legal norms. "EU is not an active intermediary in Karabakh conflict settlement issue, but we support by all means OSCE MG efforts to solve the conflict in a peaceful way," he stated, stressing that the sides should keep the ceasefire regime and reject military solution to the problem.
European parliamentarian, particularly expressed worry on permanent violations of the ceasefire regime and deaths of civilians and weaponry race. He called the sides to restart peaceful talks within OSCE MG and follow the recommendations of Minsk co chairs.
McAllister also expressed regret on closing OSCE Office in coming months in the region because of Azerbaijan veto, despite German and Austrian representatives all efforts.
