ArmInfo. Armenia will never recognize Nagorno Karabakh officially. Such an opinion was stated by Manvel Sargsyan, the head of Armenian Center for National and Strategic Development , during the workshop entitled. "April war: one year later - discussions around Artsakh status quo."
"This course has been thought well, it lasts 25 years already and it proceeds from Armenian Supreme Board decision taken in 1989. First time Yerevan warned about adjudication of Nagorno Karabakh in 1991, and since that time it used to be voiced pretty often. But it is still wrong to hope that it will happen, because in legum the rights for karabakh, according to international law, are possessed by Azerbaijan," the expert stated.
Sargsyan mentioned that the status quo in Karabakh is characterized by the territory being under da facto control of Karabakh people, and the rights for the territory mentioned belong to Azerbaijan. The only solution of the conflict , according to the expert, is to cut Baku off these rights, mentioning that there is no other option. At the same time the expert stated that it is unclear yet how that could be done today.
