ArmInfo. The CSTO Secretary-General should first of all be guided by the interests of the Organization he represents and only then of his own country, the head of the Defense Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Levon Ayvazyan is confident.
"Yuri Khachaturov was appointed as CSTO Secretary-General on rotation basis in accordance with the code of the organization. Without any doubt, the representative of one of the states appointed to this post in a way increases the importance of his state in the structure, however, it should be understood that the international position and General-Secretary should first of all be guided by the interests of the Organization.", Ayvazyan said in Yerevan on May 23.
At the same time he added that Armenia as member-state of the Organization is interested in the development of the political and military component of the CSTO.
To note, on April 14 the CSTO member countries heads have approved Yuri Khachaturov to the post of the CSTO Secretary General.
