ArmInfo. 'Armenia-Turkey: Paving the Way for Dialogue and Reconciliation' international  scientific conference was organized in a complicated  environment. This was stated by Dirk Lorenz, the head of political department of EU Delegation in Armenia.

The absence of Armenian-Turkish political relations cannot hinder the dialogue between the societies of the two countries, Heghine Manasyan - CEO at Caucasus Research Resource Center- Armenia (CRRC- Armenia), said during the international conference 'Armenia-Turkey: Paving the Way for Dialogue and Reconciliation' in the Yerevan State University on May 18.

'Quite huge efforts are being made to change the situation in Armenia-Turkey relations, and many people think that the problems can be solvedthrough dialogue. Of course, there is no dialogue at the political level, but it doesn't mean that conferences should not be held. We need to hold adialogue, understand the situation in Turkey and Armenia", Manasyan said.

She said the aim of the conference is to create platform for dialogue and exchange of views between the Armenian and Turkish researchers.

Dirk Lorenz- Head of Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Armenia, said the political atmosphere is not so favorable for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, however, this most not hinder the establishment of dialogue between the representatives of the societies of the two countries.

"The representatives of two publics need to understand each other, ynd paths for dialogue. The European Union attaches importance to contributing to such dialogues between the societies of both states", Dirk Lorenz said.

The conference is attended by over 40 experts from Armenia, Turkey, the US and the European countries.
