At the initiative of INGO Armenia together with one of the international leaders in the insurance sphere, Marsh & McLennan, a master class on the topic "Insurance of art objects" was held on May 13 at the National Art Gallery of Armenia. The presentation was made by the Director of the Department of Cargoes and Cultural Values of the company Marsh & McLennan Olga Seravkina, detailing the participants and guests of the event features of insurance of art objects, the significance and role in preserving the cultural heritage.
"Insurance of art objects, the company pursues not only business goals, but also contributes to the process of preserving the universal values," said Executive Director of INGO Armenia Arevshat Meliksetyan, who said that last year the museums of Armenia were visited by more than 2 million people. According to him, the most common type of insurance for art is insurance of exhibitions. In this connection, Meliksetyan noted the experience of INGO Armenia in the insurance of Salvador Dali exhibition, which was held in Armenia 2 years ago. At the same time, he added that in the framework of social corporate responsibility, the company financed the restoration of the door of the Tatev Monastery, repeatedly sponsored exhibitions and other cultural events. "We want to ensure continuous communication between the sphere of culture and our company," he stressed.
For his part, the director of the National Gallery of Art of Armenia, Arman Tsaturyan, noted that in the Armenian Law "On Insurance and Insurance Activity" there is no mention of museums, and in fact insurance for art objects could play a significant role in this. At the same time he added: "In order to be competitive and cooperate in the international market, taking up your niche requires knowledge. I think this seminar will help to acquire new knowledge and skills in the field of insurance."
Director of marketing in Russia and CIS of the insurance broker Marsh & McLennan Armen Gyulumyan said that in Armenia, cooperation in the framework of various projects was established quite a long time, in particular, with INGO Armenia. "When there is no local experience or not enough, we are happy to get involved in the format of such events and are trying to provide assistance," he said.
The master class was attended by more than 50 specialists engaged in the organization of exhibitions and art, in the end of which participants were awarded certificates. During the event, the features, relevance and importance of insurance for art objects were presented. Within the framework of long-term cooperation with Marsh & McLennan, INGO Armenia regularly organizes master classes.
