ArmInfo. During the tripartite meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers Moscow one more time accentuated own privileged status in the process of Karabakh conflict settlement. Such an opinion was stated by Russian political expert Sergey Markedonov.
On April 28, at the working meeting of Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers initiated by Russia, a discussion took place in respect to the Karabakh settlement. Ministers particularly agreed to continue diplomatic consultations over all the range of issues regarding peaceful settlement. "The important moment of the meeting was the negotiations of Armenia and Azerbaijani Foreign ministers with Minsk Group co-chairs, and with the representative of Austria. Hence, it is obvious that Moscow's diplomatic efforts and tripartite format of peace negotiations do not oppose but do amend the Misnk Group activities," he mentioned.
The expert states that Russia's activities have the support of USA, France and OSCE in common. But, according to him, this consensus will be alive until the current balance of forces is actual. Mentioning that it is difficult to put the Karabakh settlement beside large priorities of Moscow like relations with USA, EU, China, Syrian conflict or Ukrainian issue, the expert states that this issue is not removed from Russian Foreign Moinistry agenda.
"The Karabakh war could generate complication of Russian relations with Turkey and Iran. And it is important also that Moscow's response could cause some collisions in relations with USA and EU, because USA and EU could consider Russian actions as non-adequate, depending on those sharpness," Markedonov said.
