ArmInfo. In the new situation, Serzh Sargsyan has morale and judicial right to denunciate own previous promises given in cardinally other conditions and may begin the work from a new page. Ex Head of Artsakh MFA independent analytic Arman Melikyan expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
"I think Sargsyan is limited by the given promises to handover Artsakh territories to the enemy, he said before his presidency. In 2005 he defined Aghdam as not his fatherland. He still clings to this point of view, preferring to keep quiet about the fact that Getashen, Shahumyan or Gandzak remain the homeland for every Armenian. However, Ilham Aliyev, not having an immense waste of Sargsyan's soul, does not name their homeland and does not sound ready to return to the real owners", he noted.
The analyst is convinced that, irrespective of the invariability of the Sargsyan approaches, certain circumstances have changed significantly. In particular, while confirming the readiness to surrender the territories, Sargsyan expects that in response to this unjustifiable concession, Baku at least recognizes Artsakh's right to self-determination within the borders of the former NKAR. Moreover, he received corresponding assurances from Moscow.
"However, today we are talking about the surrender of territories without the recognition of Baku's right to self-determination of Artsakh, that is, two-thirds of the NKR territory must be handed over to the enemy without any preconditions, and such conversations, of course, give room for maneuver and abandonment of previous promises and Serzh Sargsyan", the analyst has summed up.
