ArmInfo.A meeting between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the President of Turkmenistan and Karen Karapetyan, the Prime-Minister of Armenia took place, as the press- service of Armenian Government states.
The President of Turkmenistan, meeting the governmental delegation of Armenia, noted that during the recent years Armenian-Turkmen relations registered progress, adding that this kind of visits promote further development of relations in various directions. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow confirmed the interest of Turkmenistan in further development of strengthening of the relations in spheres of bilateral interest.
Turkmen leader noted historically formed warm relations between the two nations. ?I am sure that your official visit will affect in the best way to further development of brotherly relations of our nations in various spheres of economy-energy, transport, agriculture, machinery, industry. We have big potential for cooperation and we are ready to discuss your ideas and suggestions?, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow stated, giving best wishes to the Armenian Government.
Thanking Turkmen leader for the warm reception, Karen Karapetyan highly appreciated current level of Armenian-Turkmen relations. Along with that he noted that the aim of the visit of the Governmental delegation to Turkmenistan is a discussion of many projects of economic cooperation, which will allow to activate economic relations and using the big potential to increase the extents of the turnover of commodities.
During the meeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and Karen Karapetyan discussed wide aspect of the issues of bilateral partnership. It was noted that the stable basis for international relations is creation of contract-legal base, for development and practical usage which the activity is aimed at.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow expressed his cooperation of the discussed bilateral collaboration plans. The sides agreed to continue the discussions in April already in Yerevan at the level of work group. Within the framework of the official visit to Turkmenistan the Prime-Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan met also Dadabay Amangeldiev,the Deputy Chairman of the Ministry Cabinet.
The sides expressed their confidence that the presented suggestions from the Armenian side are promising on the cooperation and strengthening of economic relations. The sides emphasized that the constructive cooperation, including active implementation of intergovernmental committee, will become a new motivation for further deepening of Armenian and Turkmen relations.
The Head of Armenian Government and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Turkmenistan noted also the importance of the implementation of the joint programs in the areas of economy, transport, IT, agriculture, jewelry, tourism and air connections.
To note, according to National Statistic Service of Armenia, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Turkmenistan amounted over $12mln in 2016, with annual decrease by 32.8%. At the same time the export totaled $5.8mln with annual decrease of 66.9%, import by $6.2 mln with annual decrease by 18.6%.
