ArmInfo. Acting Minister of Science and Education, Deputy Minister Manuk Mkrtchyan today met with the directors of 12 schools, whose names are mentioned in the list of the Association of Informed Citizens.
During the meeting, he informed the directors about the fact that the CEC opened a case on the publication of the Public Association of Informed Citizens audio records, in which the school directors agitated for the ruling Republican Party. Mkrtchyan informed the directors that they will have to give explanations in this regard. The deputy minister also urged school directors to take measures to prevent possible involvement of educational institutions in political processes.
To note, the "Association of informed citizens" published an audio record with the conversation of 114 directors of kindergartens and schools of the republic with the members of the organization who called themselves by representatives of the RPA electoral headquarters, learned that the employees and the management of educational institutions are agitating for the ruling party, which is prohibited by the Electoral Code.
Bloc Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian appealed to the Central Election Commission with a demand to annul the registration of the Republican Party in the parliamentary elections. The bloc "Armenian National Congress - People's Party of Armenia" called on the CEC and law enforcement bodies to react to the incident, and the Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan to resign. The Prosecutor General's Office reported that this information is being specified. The Ombudsman of the republic also expressed his concern about this, also urging the CEC and law enforcement bodies to react to this fact. And the Republican Party stated that the Electoral Code does not prohibit employees of educational institutions from engaging in agitation outside their working hours.
