ArmInfo.The hero of the Artsakh war Zhirayr Sefilyan and the member of the Sasna Tsrer Varuzhan Avetisyan from the Armavir penitentiary have issued a statement regarding the death of Artur Sargsyan, the food-deliver.
""Deliverer of food" Artur Sargsyan served his motherland and the citizens even with his death. Today, we should think more of his self-sacrifice as a national message, at any cost, regretting nothing to consolidate for the removal of the colonial regime, as well as the legal accession of Artsakh, state sovereignty and democracy. These are steps that should be included in our national agenda, for creating the appropriate prerequisites for the founding of a new Kur-Araqs Republic and fulfilling the dreams of all Armenians. Having tortured Artur Sargsyan, the regime pursued the goal of killing our dreams. However, Artur defeated death with decisiveness at the cost of his life and was counted among the immortals. He with his perseverance inspired and gave strength to thousands of struggling. Expressing our condolences to Artur's family and friends and our people, at the same time we call on them to remain faithful to his services", the statement reads.
To recall, Artur Sargsyan was accused of assisting the actions of the rebel group Sasna Tsrer, which captured the regiment of the patrol service in Yerevan in July 2016. On his private car he broke through screens and delivered bread and water to the rebels. The authorities then decided to use the factor of hunger and thirst to force the group to surrender. Sargsyan was arrested, and then under pressure from a group of Parliamentarians, he was released under a subscription, as he suffered a number of serious diseases incompatible with his being under arrest. However, on 9 February he was arrested again because of "violation of the conditions of execution of the preventive measure". After that, Sargsyan went on a hunger strike, and refused to take appropriate medical care, his health deteriorated every day. On March 16, in extremely difficult condition, he was taken to the clinic, where he died. The death of Sargsyan brought hundreds of people to the streets. Protests in support of Sargsyan are held not only in Yerevan and in the cities of the republic, but throughout the world. Participants in the action in memory of Artur Sargsyan, demanding to bury Sargsyan in the pantheon of "Yerablur" and bring to justice those who are "guilty" of his death.
