As ArmInfo correspondent was told in the press service of the Kremlin, on March 16 during the adoption of the credentials of the newly appointed Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanian, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared.
"Yesterday's meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan showed again that Russia and Armenia as allies are supporting each other and jointly promoting the processes of Eurasian integration. Our countries are successfully developing cooperation in the economy, trade, and investment, in the military-technical sphere. Contacts in the field of tourism, culture, science and education are expanding. Close cooperation is being conducted along the lines of the regions of the two countries. Russia is ready as an intermediary to exert maximum efforts to settle regional conflicts", Putin said.
On March 16, 18 ambassadors presented credentials to the Russian president in the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
On March 10, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree appointing Vardan Toghanian the Armenian Ambassador to Russia. Toghanian is chairman of the board of directors of the Eurasian Media Group. In 2014, he became a shareholder of the Shogakn diamond processing company. Toganian graduated from the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University and defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Yerevan State University. In 2001 he graduated from the Institute of Socio-Political Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 1995-1996 he trained at the Center for International Studies at the University of Osaka; 2000 - at Harvard University. Candidate of Historical Sciences, Doctor of Political Sciences. He is the author of more than 10 scientific works and monographs devoted to the problems of development of the New Independent States, regional and international conflicts, problems of national tolerance. Speaks English and Japanese. In 1992 - 1994 years worked in the permanent representation of Armenia in Moscow as the chief specialist, in 1994 - 1995 in the Armenian Embassy in Russia - the second secretary, 1996-1997 was the first secretary of the administration of the CIS countries of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, 1997- 1998 - First Secretary of the Armenian Embassy in Russia, 1998-2000 - adviser to the Armenian Embassy in Moscow.
