ArmInfo.Changes in the electoral legislation of Armenia are revolutionary in nature, as they increase the opportunities for fair competition and the democratic nature of electoral processes. On March 15, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Viktor Guminsky told reporters after the meeting with the head of the CEC Tigran Mukuchyan.
"The forthcoming elections are a very important political moment in the life of Armenia, and further progress in this or that direction depends on their results". We, of course, wish the fraternal Armenian people to choose the path providing stability in society and moving forward and only in a constructive way, - he said. Gumansky also said that 76 representatives of Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan confirmed their participation in the CIS observation mission. "In total, the mission will include 150-180 observers, of which 20 will be long-term observers, they will arrive in Armenia at the invitation of the country's Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan", Guminsky said, adding that while they do not have information on serious violations of the Electoral Code.
To note, amendments to the Electoral Code of Armenia providing for a fully proportional voting system and the use of technical means to suppress violations during the elections, in particular, the online broadcast of the entire electoral process and the publication of lists of voted citizens.
