ArmInfo. There is a common approach to Nagorno-Karaakh conflict in the international community, because the conflict mentioned derives from other conflicts at the post-Soviet area. This was stated by OSCE Minsk Group American Co-chair Richard Hoagland based on results of meetings held in Baku.
According to him, despite the conflict lasts for long years, there are solutions available for it. At the same time, leaving the increasing number of observers at the contact line without any comments, Hoaglad informed that there were suggestions made at St. Petersburg and Vienna meetings to increase the level of trust between the sides of the conflict. According to the diplomat, every side should review all the options to increase the trust. "We will check the political will of Armenian authorities next week. Both sides of the conflict use military rhetoric, but such statements are aimed at the attention of local public," the American co chair stated according to the information of APA.
Referring to Russian activities in negotiations process, Hoagland said that it is natural, when any country shows more activity in negotiation process. He stated also, that previously such an activity was shown by U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, and next that role passed to France. American diplomat thinks that Russia's leading role in the negotiations process today is quite natural, because any of three countries, including Russia, mention the significance of diplomatic activity.
Russian co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov accentuated the necessity of implementation of St. Petersburg and Vienna agreements. The co-chair mentioned that parties discussed also the ideas of negotiations during their meetings with Azerbaijani President. He stated also, that the situation at the contact line of military forces has been discussed as well.
In his turn, Stephane Visconti, the French co-chair, stated that the negotiations process started moving forward again. The Diplomat mentioned that USA, France, and Russia will continue their efforts. Of course, this is a difficult process. As you know, there is a tension observed at the contact line of the military forces. But both sides wish to reach a progress. I think it is very important," the French politician said.
