ArmInfo. Using the cooperation with Moscow Baku tries to "shake up" the status quo around Karabakh, having a purpose to resume negotiations in objective to get back the territories, the Stratfor Research Center report reads.
This is exactly what Russia could play over to improve its influence in Azerbaijan. Recently Moscow improved its position as the arbiter in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and now could use the conflict to move its strategic interests in Atmenia, the report notes.
The authors of the report state that within the Russian control over the vast majority of strategic armaments, Armenia could not make any large independent steps. Meanwhile, keeping the conflict at the present stage rules out the probability of any essential move of any side of the conflict without coordinating that with Russia.
Positioning Armenia as a dependant ally of Russia, the experts accentuate the test of relations between two countries in the meaning of Moscow behavior with Yerevan in respect to Karabakh conflict. Anyway, the absence of any optional partners left no choice for Yerevan other than the cooperation with Moscow, the report reads.
