ArmInfo. It is necessary to support the international mediators in their efforts to encourage the Karabakh conflict parties to observe the ceasefire, former US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick says in an interview to VoA.
He stresses the need to respect the ceasefire, reduce the tension in order to save lives and promote the peace process. It is hard to settle the conflict as long as the military actions continue, he says.
As regards the latest statement of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Warlick notes that the Co-Chairs do not spare efforts to help the sides observe the ceasefire and avoid casualties. He expresses hope that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will agree to meet and promote the peace process. He points out that in late December 2016, when he was leaving his post, there were interesting proposals on the table, which created opportunities for discussion between the parties.
James Warlick says that the details of the "four-day" war in April have not been disclosed so far. At the same time, he points out the need to leave the war behind, because the time for peace has come.
