ArmInfo. On April elections the "Armenian Renaissance" Party will struggle not for parliamentary positions but for strong presence, on February 16 said the Party's leader Artur Baghdasaryan while answering to ArmInfo correspondent's question.
"We will get as much percents as God wishes. As the proverb says "Do not cross the bridge until you come to it", we will not struggle for parliamentary positions. We will struggle for greater heights", he noted. At the same time the politician did not exclude post-electoral cooperation with "Tsarukyan", "Elk" and "Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian" blocs.
"Armenian Renaissance" is ready to form a post-electoral coalition with any political force, if will have influence on decision-making. After the constitutional reforms the Government in Armenia must not form around one Party. At the same time there must be created no artificial coalitions, they must be real", he noted while saying that his team is a competitive one and can succeed.
Baghdasaryan also noted that the Party he leads does not attend to remain in opposition. "We are struggling to become the Government and to carry out our programs", he said. Meanwhile Baghdasaryan noted that ARP is against Serzh Sargsyan and the political system formed around him, nevertheless, he did not exclude the cooperation with the Republican Party.
To note, in 2008 "outspoken oppositionist" and "Orinats Erkir" Party leader Arthur Baghdasaryan, immediately after the elections, joined Serzh Sargsyan and subsequently consolidated the alliance with the ruling Republican Party. He occupied the Natioanal Security Council Secretary position, however after Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan's resignation he resigned as well. According to available information, Baghdasaryan claimed the Parliament's head position, but the President did not satisfy his will. In April 2014 the Party joined opposition again. On June 6, 2015, Baghdasaryan initiated the "Armenian Renaissance" political unity creation, which according to politicians, was a re-branding of "Orinats Erkir" in the parliamentary elections eve.
