ArmInfo. The Armenian Ombudsman Office stuff visited Penitentiary "Hospital for Convicts" to get acquainted with the conditions of detention and examine the state of health of Artur Sargsyan who delivered food to "Sasna tsrer" group, who previously went on hunger strike.
As the Ombudsman Office's press-service told ArmInfo, the Office co-workers had an individual talk with Sargsyan, studied in detail the conditions, its content, and medical records. "The study of medical records revealed that from 9 to 13 February Sargsyan was regularly visited by doctors and made notes in the chart on the refusal of medical care. Human Rights Defender, on his own initiative started a procedure to ensure preservation of Sargsyan's health", the Office's statement reads.
To note, Sargsyan was released from custody on December 31, 2016 due to illness. However, on February 9 the court decided to arrest Sargsyan again for two months. On February 10, Artur Sargsyan in protest against the alleged crime intelligence, provided a statement about the hunger strike and has refused in writing from sending.
To recall, on July 26 Artur Sargsyan managed to pierce the police cordon with his car through and delivered food to "Sasna tsrer" group. Currently, he is charged with facilitating armed group. An armed group "Sasna tsrer" seized PPP police regiment in Yerevan on July 17, demanding the release of contained under the arrests the Karabakh war participant Zhirayr Sefilyan, who is accused of illegal purchase and possession of weapons. The group kept the Regiment for 2 weeks. On July 31 "Sasna tsrer" surrendered voluntarily to Authorities and laid down the arms. During these events, 3 law enforcement officers were killed, 6 more were injured. Many members of the group were injured in a shootout with police.
