ArmInfo. Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement negotiations are based on Madrid principles offered by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian during a press conference in Yerevan on January 31.
According to him, the question which settlement is acceptable for the Armenian side -package or phased one, has lost its relevance, as the negotiations have been held on Madrid Principles since 2007, assuming package resolution. "These principles are one package, envisaging phased resolution", he noted.
He also didn't want to reply to Armenia's first president's claim, that the protracted conflict affects especially the Armenian side and its continuation will lead to a more disadvantageous resolution for Armenia itself. "20 years have passed and we have proceeded. There were more then a dozen of meeting on Presidents' level and development was registered", noted the Minister.
To note, in his speech during "Armenian National Congress" meeting, Ter-Petrosyan stressed the idea of necessary territorial concessions from Armenian side to settle the Karabakh conflict. According to him, if the Armenian side does not make concessions, it will appear in more complicated situation as a result. He also called Aliyev a constructive leader, and blamed Armenian authorities for not speaking about concessions straight and clear.
