ArmInfo. Armenia has never refused from meetings within the negotiation process on peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian stated at the press conference in Yerevan on January 31.
"Armenia has never avoided meetings, however I can not predict how Azerbaijan will act", he stressed. Particularly, the Minister informed that the Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group have proposed the sides to hold a meeting within the upcoming Munich Security Conference to be held between February 12 and 14, however no final decision has been made on the proposal. Nalbandian has also refuted the information that Russia intends to hold a regular trilateral meeting with Armenia and Azerbaijan's Presidents. "As of today only Co-Chairs' proposal to hold a meeting in Munich is being discussed", noted the Minister.
Nalbandian also noted that Baku distorts not only the essence of the meetings but the fact itself. In this context he noted that it is Baku who tries to put to question and disrupt Vienna and Saint Petersburg agreements. At the same time commenting on Armenia's possible actions in case Azerbaijan refuses to implement the given agreements the Minister noted that it will not be for the first time-Baku has repeatedly used such a practice. "However, there is no alternative to negotiations, consequently Yerevan and the Co- Chairs continue their efforts for reaching such a settlement that will ensure safety of Artsakh people", he noted.
According to him, by doing this Baku attempts to hinder peaceful settlement of the conflict, for which Armenia and the OSCE MG Co-Chairs exert efforts. The Minister noted that it is because of Baku's this very stand that the Co-Chairs had to repeatedly voice the need to observe the ceasefire regime and unconditional implementation of obligations taken by the ceasefire agreements of 1994-1995. He also answered to Azerbaijani counterparts' accusations that the Armenian side and Nalbandian personally distort the essence of those agreements. "Relevant documents have been published, consequently one can see the truth easily, while the best answer to such accusations is the statement by the author of the document Vladimir Kazimirov, in which he clearly notes who distorts the facts", the Minister summarized.
