RF President addressed petition: Set Levon Hayrapetyan free

An online petition is set out at Change.org addressed to Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, calling him to protect famous philanthropist and entrepreneur Levon  Hayrapetyan.   The  Petition, entitled " Freedom for  patriot and philanthropist  Levon Hayrapetyan!" was created three days before, and there are  still318 votes lacking to review it. "

Levon Hayrapetyan is  well  known philanthropist and businessmen, but he is also a man who is  very old and sick. He is arrested due to illegal charges in respect  to Bashneft misappropriations case.  In respect to all other  defendants this case has been cancelled, and he is arrested based  only on being accused by the mother of a lifetime sentenced person. A  man with such bad medical indications should not be put in the  prison!"  the petition reads.   

 To remind, Zamoskvoretski District Court of Moscow has sentenced  businessman Levon Hayrapetyan to 4 years in general regime penal  colony and found him guilty in misappropriation of 700 thsd USD  received from ex-senator of Bashkiria Igor Izmestyev's mother.  Hayrapetyan was placed under detention at the court hall. 

The court also ordered 20.8 mln Rubles payment to the affected party.  The court resolved that in spring of 2010 Hayrapetyan mislead Tamara  Izmestyeva promising a softer sentence for her son in exchange for a  big amount of money.Levon Hayrapetyan does not admit the fault.   Earlier the prosecutor demanded to sentence Hayrapetyan for 7 years n  colony. Another criminal case was initiated against Hayrapetyan,  businessman and Armenian public figure. He is charged with complicity  in the sale of Bashneft by Ural Rakhimov in April 2009 to AFK  Sistema. After a large-scale arbitration process, Bashneft was  returned to the government. The second case for misappropriation of  700 thsd USD was initiated against Hayrapetyan in 2014.
