ArmInfo. Holding democratic elections is a priority for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, RPA Spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov quotes Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan as saying at the RPA Council's meeting.
"The RPA is the leading political force of the country and it is willing to do its best to hold democratic elections," Sharmazanov said. He stressed that the party is ready for healthy competition with all forces. Sharmazanov disproved the rumors saying that the return of oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan to politics and creation of the Tsarukyan bloc are coordinated with the authorities.
As regards the withdrawal of several people from the RPA, Sharmazanov said that 11,000 people have joined the RPA over the past month. He added that the RPA lists are not ready yet and will be prepared by February 6.
