ArmInfo.Ex-defense minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan says on his Facebook page.
He notes that he was at the origin of formation of the country and the army and over the past 17 years he headed the defense ministries of Armenia and Artsakh and that he cannot indifferently follow the military- political processes in the country. Ohanyan says that he said good-bye to the minister's post without any emotional shocks and he refused all the high posts he was offered because he wants to use his experience, skills and efforts to change the domestic political situations in the country. "I have made a decision to take active part in the political and electoral processes, being guided by the idea "in the name of", i.e. in the name of the country's security and implementation of national ideas," he notes, adding that he cannot see how dissidence becomes the reason of political persecution, slander and insults. All the political forces participating in the electoral processes must show mutual respect and restraint, he says.
He stresses that after the constitutional reforms the role and significance of the upcoming parliamentary elections radically differs from the previous ones, because the country is switching to a parliamentary system of governance.
The ex-minister says that he has already started consultations with political forces, public structures, well- known figures and intellectuals. "My goal is to take active part in the parliamentary elections of 2017, and together with my teammates to find an effective format, which will present a realistic program aimed at forming a new political and economic system with a new quality of governance," Ohanyan says.
To note, in Dec 19 ex-deputy head of the President's Staff Viktor Dallakyan said that Seyran Ohanyan may join the Third Republic Party headed by Dallakyan. Earlier Armenian media reported that Ohanyan was negotiating with ex-foreign ministers Raffi Hovannisian (Heritage Party) and Vartan Oskanian (Solidarity Party) to form a bloc with them.
