ArmInfo. Germany has not changed its stand on the Karabakh conflict settlement, Germany's Ambassador to Armenia Matthias Kiesler told reporters, when asked by ArmInfo to comment on the escalation in the conflict zone and its impact on the possible meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council's meeting in Hamburg.
Ambassador Kiesler stressed the need to stabilize the situation on the line of contact and to restore the ceasefire. He added that Germany welcomes any ideas and proposals that would contribute to stabilization of the situation.
To note, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone has escalated. On November 11-18 the Azerbaijani army is conducting large-scale military exercises that involve around 60 thousand troops, 700 rocket launchers, 150 tanks and other military equipment, as well as around 50 war planes and helicopters.
To recall, in early Dec 2016 Hamburg will host the OSCE Ministerial Council's meeting. Earlier, the US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group said that the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers might meet on the sidelines of that meeting.
