ArmInfo. The Foreign Ministry of Armenia has responded to the escalation on the contact line of the Azerbaijani and Karabakh troops.
Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan told Artsakhpress that one should always expect shady undertakings from Azerbaijan. "The April events demonstrated that Azerbaijan's blitzkrieg has failed and that the potential of the Armenian republics is much bigger. Baku's actions only hamper the resumption of the peace process and implementation of the arrangements reached during the Summits in Vienna and St. Petersburg. Such actions of the Azeri authorities leave no alternative to the status quo they are so much complaining about. Otherwise, they would not hinder the implementation of the arrangements," Kocharyan said.
The deputy minister noted it is necessary to divide the peace process into two sections: negotiations on settlement and negotiations aimed at observing the ceasefire. "Today we are speaking about the latter, because it is simply naive to speak of progress in the talks as long as there are ceasefire violations and provocations. In this context, the recent provocations once again demonstrate the need to start implementing the Vienna arrangements as soon as possible," Kocharyan said.
To note, over the past few days the tension on the line of contact of the Azerbaijani and Karabakh troops has run high.
