ArmInfo. Nothing will change in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict after the election of Republican Donald Trump as the US President, Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan said at a press conference in Yerevan on November 11.
He noted that the swear-in ceremony will take place on 20 Jan 2017.
"Certainly, some dynamics will be observed in the US-Russia relations regarding the situation in the Middle East, but I suppose the stand on the Karabakh problem and on the South Caucasus in general will undergo no considerable changes. Unfortunately, we, Armenians look at the Karabakh issues from Yerevan's positions. Probably, it is correct. However, we should look at the conflict from the positions of Moscow or Washington. The Karabakh conflict itself is unique, because despite the numerous discrepancies between Russia and the US, it is probably the only platform, where the two powers are cooperating because they are interested in no war in the region," the expert said.
At the same time, Iskandaryan thinks that one should expect no breakthrough in the Karabakh peace process in the foreseeable future.
