ArmInfo. Equal terms of game will help to eradicate artificial monopolies on Armenian market, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stated at the parliament on October 20.
Answering to MP Nikol Pashinyan's question how he is going to fight "sugar monopoly" owned by MP from the Republican Party Samvel Aleksanyan, "banana monopoly" by former head of Compulsory Enforcement Service Mihran Poghosyan, "media monopoly" by President's son-in law Mikael Minasyan, the Prime Minister noted: "Methods of fighting against monopolies are simple- we will create equal terms of the game. I am not much interested how this or that monopoly was formed, however in new conditions only those players who can reach success will remain", he stressed not ruling out that monopolies were formed with administrative involvement.
Answering to the MP's question what is his personal attitude to President Serzh Sargsyan and whether he will continue his political line, Karen Karapetyan noted that he respects the president. "Sargsyan has invited me to hold the position, consequently I will continue his political line", the Prime Minister stressed at the same time he suggested asking the ministers whom they consider their leader the President or Prime Minister.
To note, the Prime Minister is presenting the program to the parliament. The program particularly envisages that the government intends to fight artificial monopolies and corruption. Within 3 months the government intends to criminalize "unlawful enrichment" and in 6 months to introduce mechanisms guaranteeing execution of relevant laws. Within a 6-month term the government intends to develop anticorruption institutional system by revising the principles of forming the relevant council, increase accountability of anticorruption and law enforcement bodies, to increase number of those officials obliged to present declaration on incomes and property, to hold events aimed at regulating collision of interests and to set legal restrictions on cash deals. Within a year the government also intends to develop legislation envisaging tougher punishment for crimes against state service.
