ArmInfo.On October 14 Session of Collective Security Council kicked off in Yerevan with two-hour delay attended by Presidents of CSTO countries.
The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon are attending the session, Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has cancelled the visit because of catching cold.
Besides, representatives from partner organizations SCO and CIS have also been invited to participate in the session.
Welcoming the participants of the session and noting that today Armenia's presidency at the CSTO comes to an end, President Sargsyan underscored that Armenia attaches great importance to the success of the Yerevan summit. He also wished speedy recovery to his Kazakh counterpart. Sargsyan noted that a lot of proposals and documents will be discussed during the session and the strategy of collective security till 2025 will be adopted. He recalled that at the end of the session Armenia will pass the chairmanship to Belarus.
Earlier, on Thursday, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said 24 documents are to be signed at the meetings, with part of them behind the closed doors. The leaders of the CSTO countries will discuss the appointment of new Secretary General of the Organization, adopt a statement on the influence of one-sided deployment of missile defense systems on the international security, as well as a statement on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The presidents will adopt the Collective Security Strategy for 2025 outline such internal challenges and threats as terrorism and extremism, recruiting of people into organizations, stirring up international, inter-ethnic and religious conflicts, hatred and use of information technologies for that purpose.
