ArmInfo. Bright Armenia Party has decided to boycott the sessions of the Vanadzor Elders' Council, Krist Marukyan, the candidate No.1 on the Bright Armenia Party List posted on Facebook.
The Party is keen to expose the four "betrayers" in the opposition camp who voted for the Republican Party's candidate Mamikon Aslanyan during the mayoral elections. As RPA got no absolute majority at the Vanadzor Elders' Council, it will have to enlist the support of either Prosperous Armenia Party or Armenian Rebirth Party to secure a quorum at the sessions.
Bright Armenia members are sure that the representatives of Prosperous Armenia or Armenian Rebirth at the Elders' Council who will secure a quorum together with Republican Party had probably voted for the Republican candidate at the mayor elections. According to ArmInfo's data, Bright Armenia knows the "betrayers" but so far refrains from naming them. Yet, Edmon Marukyan, the leader of Bright Armenia leaked information that all the four members of the Elders' Council who supported the Republican candidate are members of Armenian Rebirth Party.
He said that Arkady Peleshyan, the candidate No.1 on the Armenian Rebirth Party List persuaded its fellows to vote for the Republican candidate. In particular, Arkady Peleshyan is charged with attacking Rafael Grigoryan, the Primate of the Vanadzor Diocese of the Armenian Evangelical Church. Marukyan believes that the authorities promised to cancel the criminal case against Peleshyan if the latter supports their candidate and persuades others to do the same. Armenian Rebirth disclaims this information, but the other two opposition parties say they have proofs.
To note, despite the fact that the oppositionist forces Bright Armenia, Prosperous Armenia and Armenian Rebirth had united, candidate from ruling Republican Party Mamikon Aslanyan won mayoral elections in Vanadzor gaining 19 votes, as four oppositionists supported the Republican candidate during the secret voting at the Elders' Council.
