
ArmInfo. "Aleppo" Compatriotic Charitable Organization NGO has officially applied to philanthropists of Armenia and Diaspora to help the Syrian Armenians leave Syria in the light of the new wave of escalation.
Due to the critical situation in Aleppo, the organization has received more than 600 applications from the Armenians living in Aleppo, who have found themselves in a hopeless situation. They ask the organization to send them to Armenia and buy for them a one-way ticket from Lebanon to Armenia. "Each philanthropist is provided with contact data. For detailed information, one can contact "Aleppo" NGO by dialing (374)-10-54 53 69. Everyone can help the Syrian Armenians by making online transfers or remitting the money to the organization's account," the organization's statement says.
Meanwhile, Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan has recently assured journalists that only a few families want to move from Syria to Armenia. The Government of Armenia has lately sent another plane with humanitarian aid to Syria. As the Armenian-populated districts of Aleppo undergo shelling, information is received about the death and injury of the Armenian community representatives.
The exact number of Armenians remaining in Aleppo and in Syria in general is not known. However, since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, over 90 thsd Armenians have left Syria, and 12 thsd of them have moved to Armenia. An average of 500 USD is needed to send a person from Syria to Armenia.
