ArmInfo. Beeline and Microsoft Innovation Center Armenia held annual Hackathon contest of programming and innovative ideas on October 1. The event was held in "Moscow House" in Yerevan. The organizers mentioned increased interest towards it, noting that this year more than 30 teams have submitted applications for participation.
To note, the goal of Hackathon contest is to encourage young people with technical and humanitarian education to use opportunities of modern technologies and support digital and innovative solutions related to telecommunications sphere.
Within the contest the teams were developing prototypes of various solutions in the field of telecommunications in 12 hours, which were then presented to specialists and mentors. ArmCover and TopSoft, the winning teams, received prizes equal to USD 1000 and USD 500 relatively.
"Hackathon format requires certain idea from the participants and gives an opportunity to work in a team for 12 hours and try to bring this idea to life in the best possible way. This approach to holding the contest is useful for participants as well, because it gives an opportunity to work in a team and be objective in problem solving. The organizers of the contest and I myself are convinced that this format will be useful in finding new approach and new ideas, which will contribute to faster development of telecommunications sphere in the country," Beeline Armenia CEO Andrey Pyatakhin noted.
"Telecommunications field is very interesting and has a lot of problems, which the participant teams attempted to solve within the contest. We had received 32 applications and 17 teams were qualified for Hackathon. The proposed programs can solve a whole range of problems. Microsoft Innovation Center in Armenia has always encourged young people to involve in technological entrepreneurship, Hackathons and acceleration programs", Director of Microsoft Innovation Center in Armenia Artashes Vardanyan said.
