It was reported earlier that candidate for Etchmiadzin Mayor Arthur Tumanyan was hospitalized. He accuses his rival, the incumbent head of the town administration Karen Grigoryan, who is the son of MP Manvel Grigoryan, of kidnapping his supporter.
"We learned that Grigoryan and his men kidnapped Kirakos Bazhakyan, a member of our campaign headquarters. We went to search Bazhakyan, but Grigoryan's supporters attacked us," Tumanyan said explaining the reason why he was hospitalized. Tumanyan said he did not shoot at the car of his rival. Besides, Tumanyan said he has no weapon unlike Grigoryan. The candidate for mayor said the incumbent mayor tried to force him to withdraw his candidature. Meantime, the spokesperson of the Etchmiadzin Municipality Vardan Vardanyan disclaimed the reports on Bazhakyan's kidnapping calling it provocation.
