Eduard Sharmazanov: Artsakh people should have opportunity to exercise their right to self-determination

ArmInfo. Artsakh people should have the opportunity to exercise their right to self-determination, Deputy Speaker of Armenian parliament Eduard Sharmazanov stated at today's meeting with Foreign Minister of Uruguay Rodolfo Nin Novoa.

According to him everyone including Azerbaijanis should realize that Artsakh can never be a part of Azerbaijan. "International recognition of Arsakh is a matter of time", he noted. At the same time Sharmazanov added that Armenia and Artsakh consider that the conflict should be settled exclusively within OSCE Minsk Group format.

Touching upon the issue of international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide Sharmazanov stated that this may help to prevent new crimes against humanity. "Uruguay was the first to recognize the Armenian Genocide and demonstrated to the whole world its commitment to universal values", he noted.

To note, on April 20 1965 Uruguay the first in the world adopted a law on Day of Remembrance of Armenian Genocide victims.
