Pavlik Manukyan: Authorities have sacrificed Hovik Abrahamyan due to situation created by Sasna Tsrer 

ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities have sacrificed Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan due to the situation created by the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sassoon) group members, according to Pavlik Manukyan, representative of Sasna Tsrer.  

Manukyan's lawyer Harutyun Baghdasaryan quotes Manukyan as saying that the resignation of the Prime Minister and the Government is not the key goal of the Sasna Tsrer group. "This can lead to no tangible changes. We think that Karen Karapetyan should not have become the prime minister, because he represents the interests of foreign forces. All the same, the people brought from abroad will be unable to take efforts for the welfare of Armenia and they are not going to conduct any changes".    

At the same time, Manukyan thinks that the authorities will be changed soon, because the occasional and personnel reshuffle will give no results. "Sasna Tsrer have created a situation, which clearly demonstrates that things simply cannot go on this way," Baghdasaryan quotes Manukyan as saying.       

To note, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan resigned during the Government's session on September 8.  Abrahamyan replaced Tigran Sargsyan as Prime Minister on 13 April 2014. On Sept 8, 2016, the Executive Body and the Council of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) held a meeting and Serzh Sargsyan suggested ex-mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan's candidacy for the prime minister's post.  The Political Council of the RPA unanimously approved Karapetyan's candidacy. The President also presented expectations about the forthcoming activities of the future government.
