ArmInfo. The general jurisdiction court of Arabkir and Kanaker- Zeytun administrative districts of Yerevan has not satisfied the defense's motion on changing the measure of restraint against New Armenia opposition movement member Andrias Ghukasyan and setting him free on bail.
Lawyer Karen Mejlumyan says that Ghukasyan perceived the court's decision indifferently. So, Mejlumyan says the court confirms the fact that Andrias Ghukasyan is a political prisoner.
The lawyer notes that though Ghukasyan announced the end of his hunger strike on September 2, nevertheless, he drinks only juices and has lost 15-20kg.
To recall, earlier the Court of Appeal refused to change measure of restraint against Ghukasyan. Ghukasyan's lawyer Lusine Sahakyan said that the judge asked the defendant whether he would continue his political activities after being set free, and Ghukasyan gave a positive reply.
To note, Andrias Ghukasyan was detained on July 29 during the antigovernment demonstrations when Sasna Tsrer armed group seized a police compound. He is charged with organizing mass unrest. Andrias Ghukasyan started his hunger strike on August 1.
