ArmInfo. Although the USA and its allies attempt to influence on Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia these efforts have not led to any significant and long-term changes. This means that Russia's strategy in the Caucasus region has been successful so far, expert of "Anatoly Sobchak Fund", member of Party of Growth Council Sergei Stankevich expressed this opinion during an online interview organized by Region research center. "Russia insists that all the issues of ensuring security on the territory of South and North Caucasus must be solved only by the countries of the given region without any interference by any superpowers. Any exclusions are possible only if UN imposes direct sanction, for example as in case of OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno Karabakh", the expert said.
Stankevich considers that Russia's isolation by the West turned out to be impossible and the G-20 summit in China has vividly demonstrated that fact. According to him, the European allies cooperate with Russia closer, and even the USA seems to reach agreement with Russia related to conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
At the same time commenting on the readiness expressed by France to organize regular meeting between Armenia and Azerbaijan's presidents on Karabakh issue Stankevich supposed that France's mediation efforts are most likely agreed with Moscow and will be coordinated with it.
