ArmInfo.Two citizens of Armenia, certain D.K. and G.A. have been arrested over charges for hindering the professional activity of journalists and committing violence during the July demonstrations in Sari Tagh district of Yerevan.
The press office of the Special Investigative Service has told ArmInfo that the structure keeps investigating the criminal cases over the incidents on July 29-30 in Sari Tagh, under Article 164
(Hindrance to the legal professional activities of a journalist), Article 308 Part 1 (Abuse of official authority or duties by a state official); and Article 309 Part 2 (Exceeding official authorities) of
the Armenian Criminal Code.
Earlier the same charges were brought against another two citizens - V.M. and S.K. Arrests was chosen as a measures of restraint against them.
The source reports that according to the preliminary data, 20 journalists were injured in the course of the suspected crime. 17 of them have been recognized as aggrieved. They have already been questioned. A forensic medical examination is to determine the severity of the harm inflicted to the health of the media representatives.
The pretrial investigation is still underway. To recall, on July 29 evening, the police used special devices to disperse the demonstration being held in support of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of
Sassoon) group, which seized the Patrol Guard Service Regiment territory. Due to the use of special devices by the police, the demonstrators and the residents of the Sari Tagh district of Yerevan received bodily injuries.
