


Two citizens of Armenia have faced charges over obstruction of professional activity of journalists and hooliganism in a group of persons in Yerevan's Sari Tagh district, according to the Special Investigative Service of Armenia.
In particular, Vladimir. K and Seyran K. are charged with Article 164.2 (Hindrance to the legal professional activities of a journalist), Article 308.1 (Abuse of official authority), and Article 309 (Excess of official authority) of the Criminal Code of Armenia for obstructing the professional activity of journalists during protest rallies on July 29 and 30 in Yerevan's Sari Tagh district.
The preliminary investigation under the given case is continued. According to preliminary data, 20 journalists suffered from the supposed crimes. Medical forensic examinations will determine the damage caused to the health and equipment of journalists.
To recall, on the night of July 29-30, Police used special means to disperse the protests in support of Sasna Tsrer group that seized a police compound in Yerevan demanding among others the resignation of the president. Dozens were injured and detained during clashes. Even the nearby houses were damaged. Some journalists were attacked by unknown persons in civilian cloths.
